Mohammed Samaan Agha, leader of the Iraqi Turkmen Front, met Nouri al-Maliki, head of the State of Law Coalition, in Baghdad on Saturday, 9 May 2026. Jassim Mohammed Jaafar, head of the Iraqi Turkmen Islamic Union, also attended the meeting.
The participants discussed the latest developments on Iraq's political scene and the formation of the next government. They stressed the need to secure the rights of the Turkmen community and to strengthen Turkmen participation in state institutions in line with their constitutional and national entitlements.
