Arshad al-Salihi, a Turkmen member of Iraq's Council of Representatives, issued a statement marking Turkmen Press Day.

On 25 February we commemorate the launch in 1911 of the Turkmen newspaper Havadis (Al-Hawadith) in Kirkuk, the solid beginning of a Turkmen press journey that has lasted more than a century.
On this occasion we salute all Turkmen media professionals and the journalists of Turkmeneli.
We reaffirm that journalism has been, and will remain, the voice of our identity and a mirror of our people's concerns. It is a national responsibility that demands professionalism, courage and balance in the face of events.
The statement concluded: glory to its pioneers, mercy upon its martyrs, and greetings to every free pen that carries the message of truth.
