Sanan Ahmed Agha, a veteran Turkmen figure and former leader of the Iraqi Turkmen Front, said on Wednesday, 21 January 2026: “As native sons of Erbil, we strongly condemn and denounce the attempt by some foreign refugees to storm the headquarters of the Iraqi Turkmen Front's Erbil branch, with the aim of igniting strife between the Turkmen and our Kurdish brothers in Erbil and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.”

He said those responsible should understand well that the people of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, with all their communities, are a force of steel capable of repelling every storm that targets their unity and internal security.

“Here we commend and praise the members of the Turkmen protection force who, despite their small numbers, heroically confronted the attempted storming until reinforcements arrived. We also thank the Erbil police and Asayish and everyone who took part in foiling the attack,” he said.

Finally, he called on all citizens to support the government in strengthening the internal security forces so that they can carry out their sacred duties in the best possible way.
