Sinan Celebi issues statement on attacks on the Turkmen Front and TEBA

Sinan Celebi, a former leader of the Iraqi Turkmen Front, said on Wednesday, 21 January 2026: “These heartbreaking incidents and others like them serve no one's interests, nor can they damage the long-standing friendship, kinship and shared future that our peoples have built throughout history.”

He said such incidents only serve the aims of external parties.

“I am confident that our peoples and nations will not be swayed by such incitement, and in artificial situations like this only calm and good sense must prevail,” he said, adding: “The region we live in is like a very stormy ocean, and further escalation of tensions is in no one's interest.”

He said the immediate intervention of the Asayish and other security institutions deserved praise.
