Kirkuk governor cuts the price of generator power per ampere
On the instructions of Kirkuk Governor Mohammed Samaan Agha, the monthly price of one ampere of private generator electricity has been reduced by 1,500 dinars.

Kirkuk Governorate said on Monday, 4 May 2026, that an emergency meeting was held to review generator prices and possible reductions, in line with Governor Mohammed Samaan Agha's instructions and under the supervision of Assistant Governor for Services and Development Engineer Jihan Ibrahim Faris and Kirkuk District Commissioner Avesta Mohammed.
The meeting examined the state of the national grid and rising operating costs, including fuel, oil and repair expenses, taking into account both residents' living conditions and the situation of generator owners.
After intensive discussion, the following was agreed:
The price of each ampere will be reduced by 1,500 dinars. The price covers 40 days of operation and is intended as relief in light of the challenges facing the province and the country.
Officials noted that generator operating hours in some parts of Kirkuk had exceeded 318 hours, placing a higher financial burden on residents than had been set. The decision rebalances the price.
